UPDATE: Alex Grant

January 21, 2013
photo 2Living in the mountains, riding bikes in January consists of mountain biking on snow, or some messy and cold road rides. Since race season is right around the corner with 24 Hours of Old Pueblo one month out, it was high time for me to get out of town and log some hours on the bike.
Enter Sho-Air/Cannondale team camp. In November we all got together for the media launch, but that trip was focused around photos, video and some media rides. This trip was all about training and dialing things in ahead of the season. We logged some great miles and after almost 30 hours in the saddle over 8 days I can say I am sufficiently smoked, but also extra motivated for the season.  Ty Kady and Pua Mata guided us on some great routes in the Orange County area, and Jeremiah and I headed over to the Glendora area for a big road ride at the end of the week.
I held back for the first half of the week to get some steady miles in my legs, then mixed in some more intense rides at the end. I felt great even after the riding, especially for January.
Now it’s back to Salt Lake before heading down to St. George for some desert riding next weekend.
