UPDATE: Jeremiah Bishop | Nationals
As I write this Erin is driving the Element up to nearby Bear Creek Resort for USA National Championships. Conrad is asking “ are we there yet? How much longer” to which we reply “well its about one finding Nemo and an episode of the magic school bus”. Coloring in his coloring book me reading the paper; sure is a nice change from long road trips and airport delays. This should be really fun and relaxed weekend.
20 years ago I started racing as a kid and would often drive here from Maryland to do some of the big races in PA; Pottstown Time trial, Ski Liberty, Ski Round Top and of course Michaux Iron Masters Classic. My home crew is here in force and I think no less than a dozen riders have made the trip here from my hometown of Harrisonburg! So if you’re not sure where my cheering section is you might need your hearing checked out. Just look for the rowdy crowd, and the “go daddy go signs” and Conrad plans to make a Friday expedition to the Crayola museum.
It’s so exciting to see the USA Nationals here in my old stomping ground, does it make me nervous? Not a bit.. I am so lucky to be here given my ragged beginnings mountain biking that I have already made magic happen. I’ll just soak it in and hammer out a great ride. No matter the race outcome it will be a treat to see my friends have a post race ice cold brew and catch up. Pennsylvania riding is sure to be what it always has been roots rocks and narrow trails that twist like the grape vines that hang in nearby trees. Good stuff and for sure it will suit me well.
With most of an amazing season behind us team Sho-Air Cannondale is hoping to build on our great results and rest assured we will have a great time enjoying the peak of summer race this weekend and at Pro XCT finals in Vermont.
Thanks for all the support from the fans and friends that have made the journey so exciting!
